W as in WHO? WHAT? WHEN? WHERE? WHY?

Let’s play a little game with the  5 basic questions to answer when you want to tell a story. I’ll share a few of the things I like.

WHO is it? WHAT happened? WHEN did it happen? WHERE were they? WHY did they do it?

Doctor WHO (Of course!!)

Doctor Who is a British science fiction television program produced by the BBC. The program depicts the adventures of a Time Lord—a time travelling, humanoid alien known as the Doctor. He explores the universe in his ‘TARDIS’, a sentient time-travelling space ship. If you ever have the chance to see the original version of Dr. WHO, you are in for a treat. From 1963 to 1966 The first Doctor was William Hartnell.

 

WHAT if?

Do you remember that series? It was created by Marvel in 1977 and was published in nine series (volumes). The narrative thread of each series is based on “The Road Not Taken”. The characters and events in each series are treated as being independent from the mainstream continuity of the Marvel Universe.

The first one was: WHAT if… Spider-man joined The Fantastic Four?

WHEN a Man Loves a Woman

One of the most beautiful love song ever. Ok you have to know this about me. I don’t like chick flick or romance novel or anything associated with romance BUT music. I can listen to those old love songs fooooeeeevvveeerrrrr. (And by the way, I didn’t say I wasn’t romantic… just saying). Soooo…. Percy Sledge “When a Man Loves a Woman” was Sledge’s first song recorded under the contract, and was released in March 1966.[3] The song’s inspiration came when Sledge’s girlfriend left him for a modeling career after he was laid off from a construction job in late 1965.

 

WHERE The Trails End

“Where the Trail Ends…” is a film following the worlds’ top freeride mountain bikers as they search for un-ridden terrain around the globe, ultimately shaping the future of big mountain freeriding. Images are just beyond beautiful. My body would never support that kind of freeride but I can dream, you know?! 😛

 

WHY books are banned in Farenheit 451?

Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopian novel by Ray Bradbury published in 1953 . The novel presents a future American society where books are outlawed and firemen burn any house that contains them. The book’s title refers to the temperature that Bradbury understood to be the auto-ignition point of book paper.

Why books are banned?  The best answer I found on the Internet : Because they promote creativity and free thinking. The government wanted everyone to be equal and obey. It’s interesting to notice what’s going on with the media and what we are served on tv nowadays…not so different on the impact.  Just a thought…

“Funny” thing that happened with the publisher: Fahrenheit 451 was subject to censorship by its publisher, Ballantine Books, beginning in 1967. Among the changes made by the publisher were the expurgation of the words “hell,” “damn,” and “abortion”; the modification of seventy-five passages; and the changing of two episodes: “In one episode, a drunken man is changed to a sick man. In another, cleaning fluff out of a human navel becomes, in the expurgated version, cleaning ears.” The publishing of the censored version (along with an uncensored one) continued for six years, after which Ballantine decided to publish only the censored work until 1979.
